Event Description
This webinar discussed the work of the Engaging in Medical Education with Sensitivity (EMES) Initiative in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community of the greater New York area during the measles outbreak in 2018-19 as well as during the COVID-19 pandemic. This community has been especially targeted by anti-vaccine propaganda and are victims of significant disinformation and misinformation campaigns. Blima Marcus, DNP, RN, OCN and Tobi Ash, RN, BSN, MBA described their efforts to increase vaccination rates in this vulnerable community. During this webinar, attendees learned about:
- The ultra-Orthodox Jewish community
- Health trends and barriers to care in this community
- Efforts to target overall misinformation and provide accurate information
- Recommendations for improved vaccine confidence and uptake in insular communities
