This education series webinar focused on the effects of climate change and its impact on vaccine-preventable diseases. Dr. Mary Hayden spoke about the weather and climate issues surrounding the distribution of the meningitis vaccine in West Africa and the forecasts that have been developed to assist governments in that distribution. Dr. Hayden also discussed:
- An overview of climate change and the anticipation of more extreme weather events
- Climate change's impact on vaccine distribution, specifically in low- and middle-income countries
- The impact of climate change and the increased transmission of certain vector- borne diseases such as: Lyme disease, malaria, dengue, Zika, and chikungunya
